1st Cholsey Scout Group is entirely run by volunteers, and it’s a great place to be! We are supported and trained by the Scout Association. It’s a very rewarding experience and you can make a real difference in the lives of our young people – whether child facing or behind the scenes.

It is worth noting that if you volunteer within 1st Cholsey Scouts (other than having that feeling of doing something amazing!) there are a few tangible perks:
- Your young person can jump the waiting list for any of our sections
- A slight reduction in termly fees
- One free ‘hut hire’ per year
- Free hire of our Scouting equipment
Current Volunteer Roles
| Role | Description |
| Group Lead Volunteer | To provide leadership, support, and coordination across the 1st Cholsey Scout Group, ensuring that our section leaders for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers are supported to deliver high-quality, safe, and inclusive programmes, in line with the values and policies of Scouts. This is not a child-facing role so would suit someone who is organised, is good with people (adults!) and has time to support our solid team of leaders from behind the scenes. |
| Health & Safety Lead | We are looking for an individual to support us with the health and safety compliance of our Scout Hut and Garden. This would suit someone with experience in this area or who simply has a bit of time to co-ordinate from behind the scenes. |
| Scout Leaders (Weds or Thurs) | To join the Scout leadership team in delivering an exciting programme following the Scouting framework, helping our young people develop confidence and skills for life. This role would suit someone who enjoys the great outdoors, having adventures, and has energy and enthusiasm to lead on activities that suits their own interests and skill sets. Training is available in all areas. |
| Cub Leaders (Tues or Weds) | To join the Cub leadership team in delivering an engaging and adventurous programme for our curious Cubs! This role requires enthusiasm and energy to develop their confidence and skills for life, following the Scouting framework and values. Full training is given. |
| Beaver Leaders (Mon or Thurs) | To join the Beaver leadership team in delivering an engaging and fun programme for our youngest members as they begin their journey in Scouting. This role simply requires enthusiasm and energy to support our little beavers and help them build confidence. Full training is given. |
